I’d Rather Watch a Winner
I first heard this poem years ago on an audio tape by Denis Waitley.
My children were very young at the time and I’ve always tried to keep
its wisdom in mind as I raised them.
Perhaps you may want to do the same, realizing that we all
are examples for others.

I’d Rather Watch a Winner
I’d Rather Watch a Winner
Than Hear One Any Day
I’d Rather Have One Walk With Me
Than Merely Tell the Way
The Eye is a Better Student
And More Willing Than the Ear
Great Counsel is Confusing
But Example is Always Clearer
The Best of All the Preachers
Are the Ones Who Live Their Deeds
To See the Good in Action
Is What Every Person Needs.
I Can Soon Learn How to Do It
If You’ll Just Let Me See It Done
I Can Watch Your Hands in Action
But Your Tongue Too Fast May Run
And the Lectures You Deliver
May Be Very Wise And True
But I’d Rather Get My Lesson
By Observing What YOU Do… (Dad)
For I May Misunderstand you
And the High Advice You Give
But There’s No Misunderstanding
How You Act And How YOU Live
I’d Rather Watch a Winner
Than Hear One Any Day.
